Coín is one of the main towns in the Guadalhorce Valley, located about half an hour inland from the Costa del Sol, and is popular among new residents because of its traditional Andalusian nature. The town offers authentic Spanish town life with local shops, bars and restaurants as well access to multiple supermarket chains, La Trocha shopping centre, which has a cinema and many restaurants and shops, and a popular farmers’ market every Sunday selling fresh, local produce.
As far as property is concerned the town centre has a wide variety of apartments and townhouses, there are urbanisations on the outskirts, with their own community feel offering town houses and villas and a more typical foreign community feel which is less predominant in the centre where the ambience is a more typical Spanish community. If you’re looking for more privacy there are many fincas perfect for enjoying the surrounding countryside, agriculture, horses and families. Coín offers a different property to suit most budgets and is generally a very affordable place to live, far from the tourist prices featured on the coast.
There are many other local amenities in Coín including state schools, a health centre, banks, various pharmacies and dentists.
The population is small, around 22,000, which helps to add to the classic community feel of a small Spanish town. Yet, despite the small population, Coín still manages to host many events like music and beer festivals, local fiestas, the town feria and romeria, and the infamous New Year’s Eve party which has made international headlines!
